When to begin basic training ?

We are picking up our lovely Pom boy in 4 weeks, he will be 6 weeks old.
What im wanting to know is, when do you start basic traing - sit, stay etc .....
Im assuming its after a few weeks when he has earned your trust and knows his name etc ..... ?
